How to make All-Star game a real game
This All-Star game was so ridiculous that even voices from inside of the NBA finally reacted against this embarrassing circus that takes place annually in February. Coach Jeff Van Gundy spoke about the problem of the current version of the All-Star Game. But what actually can be done to stop this loser type of basketball, when there is no difference between a good player and a bad one?
During years, the All-Star game changed so much and now it looks like cartoons, no defense at all, shooting 160 times from the arc, having fun without caring about the real game. Yeah, you would say this is what a consumerist society wants, so we are giving to the public what they want to receive. But the stats of the rating are proving exactly the opposite: the All-Star game audience is going down, is back at the level of 1990. With more potential viewers than in the past, now with all the technology and access worldwide to see the All-Star, there is a lack of motivation from the audience. The number of people who can watch the All-Star game has grown, but the people who love to watch has decreased a lot: 11% less than last year
We need new ideas to boost this old dying man that is the All-Star game and to make players more responsible. My proposal is that the players from the losing team to pay the winning team’s players 12 million dollars, one for each player. So each winner goes home with 1 million in the pocket and each loser with 1 million less.
Here you can watch some highlights of the ridiculous game:
