It will be the most balanced Spanish Cup in years

Yesterday, in Badalona, took place the Spanish Cup draw and it will definitely be the most exciting edition in the last 10-15 years because all the clubs involved had a great chance to take the trophy. In previous years, some clubs that qualified for Copa del Rey were not at all title contenders, but now the situation is totally different.

The first encounter between Real Madrid – Valencia will oppose two Euroleague teams that will fight as hell in order to advance to the semifinals where they can meet the winner between FC Barcelona and the Basketball Champions League, Unicaja Malaga. The battle between Barca and Unicaja is seen by many as the most unbalanced duel, but remember that the Cup is the competition of the surprises. In one game anything can happen and Unicaja this season is not at all a weak team, having one of the most extensive rotations in Europe.

Another game will offer us the Canarian islands derby between Lenovo Tenerife and Gran Canaria, and the winner will have to face the best team between the Spanish Cup host, Joventut Badalona and the Euroleague powerhouse Baskonia. Baskonia looks better on paper but playing at home in front of their crowd of fans can propel Joventut big time, giving them wings to win.

It will be an interesting Cup also because Barca and Real Madrid won’t reach for sure to meet each other in the final act as always. Now, if they will win their first game, they will face el Clasico do-or-die in the Semifinals.
