SIG Strasbourg with a younger roster this year
France is after Turkey the country with the most teams to participate this season in Basketball Champions League and SIG Strasbourg was a constant presence in all the edition of the continental challenge. They were every season a decent team, but never achieved the glory of the Final 4 till now. But this time, the tables can turn and I see Strasbourg a better squad with a real the chance to achieve more than the past seasons.
The French powerhouse led by coach Vincent Collet operated a lot of changes this summer. First of all, they parted ways with a couple of guys, between them, the veterans: Florent Pietrus, Mike Green and Mardy Collins. Strasbourg has lost as well Nicolas Lang, Eddie Jarell, the giant Youssoupha Fall and Jacques Alingue. So the whole roster was completely changed by these important departures of both French and foreigners.
It’s the reconstruction time for Strasbourg who will be younger now with the summer break additions. The club has kept only the veteran French international Ali Traore, the local prospect Ludovic Beyhurst and two experienced guards Jeremy Nzeulie and Quentin Serron.
To replace the departed, the organization has signed a couple of fresh players who will give the boost on both sides of the court because their average age is perfectly fit for an athletic game. Between the new signings, only Jerian Grant is 30 years old and then we have Travis Trice II (26 years), Thomas Scrubb (27), Boris Dallo (25), Gabe York (26), Xavier Cooks (24) and Damien Inglis (24). As you see the best formula for a roster, not too young, not too old and definitely because of this much better than the Strasbourg’s roster of last season.
The French squad is rejuvenated and full of energy. I am sure they can do impressive things this season, fighting for a place in the BasketballCL playoffs and maybe Final4.
