Steph vs. LeBron – who will win this time?
I read a joke this morning about NBA Basketball:
Ayesha Curry: Honey, wake up, you’re going to face the Lakers!
Steph Curry: It’s fine, it’s me, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and DeMarcus Cousins versus LeBron James.
Ayesha: No, honey, it’s you and Andrew Wiggins.
Indeed, tonight NBA will offer us another battle between Steph Curry and LeBron James, two of the biggest stars in the league. From 2015 to 2018, they’ve met in four NBA Finals, three of them being won by Steph and the Warriors. Only this time, Curry won’t meet James in the Finals, but in the play-in tournament. The winner of the game between the Lakers and the Warriors will get the 7th seed and play against the Suns in the first round, while the loser will get another chance to qualify into the playoffs.
After losing the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors, the team led by Steve Kerr entered a rebuilding process, therefore missing the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers raised to the occasion and beat the Miami Heat in the bubble, winning their first championship in ten years.
However, this season, James & Co. didn’t play as well as expected, so they put themselves in a difficult fight for the playoffs. On the other side, Curry returned after a tough injury and played superbly, becoming the best scorer in the league. Without Klay Thompson who is still injured, Steph led the Warriors to the play-in tournament, becoming a nominee for the MVP award.
Although both teams have a 5-win streak, the Los Angeles Lakers are favorites to get the win. However, NBA is the place where “the amazing happens” and you can never bet against Steph Curry. It should be a fun game.
