Teams to watch in BasketballCL: Galatasaray

After 2 mediocre seasons in the Basketball Champions League, it looks like the time has come for Galatasaray NEF Istanbul. The Turkish club has kept some crucial players like Dee Bost, Devaughn Akoon-Purcell and Goksenin Koksal and added many strong guys that can make a difference in important games.

Angelo Caloiaro, Dylan Ennis, Raymar Morgan and Braian Angola-Rodas are coming to help Galatasaray with their huge experience in European basketball. Then, the club signed also some important local players like Mahir Agva and Yunus Sonsirna, both teammates last year at Pinar Karsiyaka, and the youngsters Muhaymin Mustafa and Sinan Saglam. The roster is looking great and the rotation is deep combining the experience of the veterans and the freshness of the youth. That’s why I think that Galatasaray could be in the mix for a spot in the Final 4 of the BCL. Among the Turkish teams involved in the European competition this season, they look like the best, sharing this place maybe with Pinar Karsiyaka, who still have some foreigners to sign.

The advantage of Galatasaray could be also an easy group C where only Hapoel Holon can make them some trouble, while Legia and Oostende won’t be so serious contenders for the Turkish team. This situation will definitely help Galata to build their chemistry in the first two months of the competition, showing their true value in the second stage and the playoffs of the BasketballCL.

In the coming seasons, Galatasaray has a good chance to offer great basketball to their fans, returning to the top teams in Europe.
