The 5th game in 10 days for Unicaja at Levallois
The fatigue is an important factor in losing games. Spanish teams had very difficult weeks with multiple encounters, sometimes long trips too, that should be seen as well in the way they play.
Unicaja is one of the best examples in this chapter. They started in 25 of October with a home-game lost against Iberostar Tenerife. Then, they travelled to Germany in order to meet Ratiopharm Ulm in Eurocup in 28, come back to Spain, to visit Zaragoza in 30 for an amazing win, go back home to Malaga on 1st of November where they had a difficult game eventually won against the brave team of Obradoiro and now they travelled to France in order to meet Levallois.
In the same time, the French team rested big time since their last game on 28 of October at Germani Brescia in Eurocup. The reason is that the French League was suspended so this is an advantage for the teams involved in the European competition. They can now dedicate all their efforts and focus on Euroleague, Eurocup and Champions League. Normally the results should be seen very soon because it’s not the same to have 1 game per week or 5 games in 10 days which is the case of the Spanish teams like Unicaja Malaga.
Even if the level of basketball is the best in Spain, players are not robots and their physical limits are pushed too much. Let’s see these weeks if French clubs will take advantage of this situation and Spanish ones will be affected.
