The bet of the week: Virtus Bologna to beat Asvel Lyon
A week ago I recommended on my Telegram channel to bet on Virtus Bologna vs. Asvel Lyon. The odd was about 1.45, but a slight handicap should also be taken on Virtus. Why do I think the Italian squad should win today? Because:
- Virtus suffered a lot at the start of the Euroleague. After leading the whole game, they lost to Zalgiris in the last minute. Then they were smashed in Belgrade with almost 30 points! And this is not the Virtus we all know. The resurrection moment came in Madrid last week when Scariolo’s team beat Real in an unexpected way. I am sure that now Virtus Bologna can continue that good moment and beat Lyon!
- If we compare the budget and the roster of both teams, Virtus is far superior. It will be absurd if Lyon will win in Bologna, taking into consideration the expectations of each club. Virtus is fighting at least for a playoff spot, if not a Final 4 spot, while Lyon has no chance of it!
- Tornike Shengelia is back and even if he will play only a couple of minutes, he will boost the courage of the team, which is already sky-high after the win in Madrid. The home crowd will be another huge factor in a PallaDozza full of fans!
- Sergio Scariolo is a very good coach, he cannot escape this easy win at home against a team that has one of the lowest budgets in the whole competition.
