This Armani Milan is much better than last seasons

Yesterday, Armani Olimpia Milan stormed past Cantu in the opener of the Italian Supercup. The final results 101-71 reflected the true gap between the value of the roster. This summer, the Euroleague powerhouse has strengthened their squad, while Cantu, like many other teams during the crisis brought in some average players. So the game opposed a team that aims for European glory to another team that is trying to survive. That’s why the final margin of the encounter was huge.
But regardless of this excellent result, let’s see now why I consider Armani Milan a much stronger team this season than the last years.
Firstly, they maintained the core of players from last year that will be very important for the chemistry of the group. Andrea Cinciarini, Sergio Rodriguez, Kaleb Tarczevski, Paul Biligha, Jeff Brooks, Vladimir Micov, Michael Roll and Riccardo Moraschini continue to play with Olimpia Milan at least one more season.
Then, the club brought in 2 good Italians, one of them with huge experience in Legabasket and Euroleague, Luigi Datome and the other one – a rising star, Davide Morretti, who had an excellent start of the season yesterday, finishing with 11 points in 17 minutes.
At the foreigners’ chapter, Olimpia Milan has signed some important names that will bring important offensive and defensive advantages. Only think of the pair of guards, Malcolm Delaney and Kevin Punter who don’t need any presentation. They can seal every game with an unbelievable play. The other signings are the experienced Kyle Hines, 4 times Euroleague champion plus Zack LeDay and Shavon Shields.
All these acquisitions and changes in the roster will count a lot and I definitely see Olimpia Milan between the teams that are fighting for a spot in the next Final 4 of the Euroleague. They are much better than last seasons and now Ettore Messina could show us his skills as a winning coach.
