Zalgiris discipline or Asvel physicality ?

Tomorrow tow very different teams will face each other in Euroleague. Zalgiris Kaunas will host Asvel Lyon in a battle that will count a lot for both clubs in order to reach the playoffs. Zalgiris is closer, but the French team also maintain some hopes especially after the win at FC Barcelona.

Even everybody underestimated Lyon visiting the Catalans, they proved again a strong physical condition which was the key of the encounter. The French squad kept Barca under 70 points scored and this means a lot. Before that game, I am sure people thought that it will be another easy game for FC Barcelona, but this is Euroleague, a competition where each team can win against the others in the regular season. That’s why the small odds are not worthy at all.

Now Lyon will travel to Zalgiris facing one of the most difficult teams of the competition. The Lithuanians are not so run-and-gun but their main weapon is discipline, following the instructions of the coach. After Jasikevicus departure, many thought that Zalgiris will be out from the playoff race, but the spirit of Lithuanian basketball is still there: collective work, appropriate attitude, good fundamentals.

Let’s see tomorrow who will win this exciting encounter where an American style practised by Asvel Lyon will meet the old school basketball based on tactics and strategy of Zalgiris Kaunas. Definitely, a game to watch if you love basketball.
