Can Brindisi hammer the revelation team of the season in BasketballCL?
Another do-or-die in Basketball Champions League will take place tonight in Hungary, where Falco Szombathely will try to resist Happy Casa Brindisi. Even if the hosts are credited as the favourite team, I think Brindisi can steal a nice win away. My arguments for picking the Italian squad as the winner are:
- recently, Brindisi switched to 6 foreigners by keeping Dominique Sutton and Kelvin Martin for the whole season. The team had very good results as well in 4 or 5 foreigners formula and I expect now an improved basketball from their side. The Americans from Brindisi has a lot of quality and experience and, what’s the most important thing, the fighter mood.
- Falco started very well the season coming from the double round of pre-qualifiers and winning a couple of important games at home. But I don’t think they belong to the BasketballCL playoffs and they have lost the last 3 games in a row in the European competition. What the Hungarian team did till now it’s amazing enough, beating teams like Telekom Basket Bonn, PAOK (twice), Dijon or Neptunas, but I don’t see them overcoming a motivated Brindisi squad with a complete roster.
- The odd is too big on Brindisi (2.55) and this is a good reason to pick them. At live betting, the odds can grow on Falco and you can bet on them too, only to be sure not losing money.
- In the last game in the Hungarian league against KTE Duna, the American power forward DeVaughn Washington didn’t play at all for Falco, maybe rested, maybe injured. His absence at the game time with Brindisi can play a huge role, making the rotation for Falco shorter. If this will happen, the Italians’ chances to win will increase a lot, while the odd will drop instantly.
