Joventut Badalona dominated a shorthanded Trento

Joventut Badalona’s dream season continues, as Carles Duran and his side destroyed Dolomiti Trento (again), this time in the Palau Municipal in front of its home fans.

Badalona stepped on the gas pedal early on and never looked back as they always do. Even without two important players like Guillem Vives and Pau Ribas. the host team was very efficient, dominating the game on both sides of the court. The Spanish side built a 19 point lead already by halftime (43-24). Trento tried a comeback in the second half, but never got closer than 8 points and the game ended with a comfortable 82-65 win for the ‘’Penya’’.

Vladimir Brodziansky was again the best scorer for Joventut. The forward from Slovakia scored 21 points yesterday after scoring 29 and 31 in the previous two EuroCup games. Brandon Paul also had a nice contribution with 14 points while veteran Ante Tomic was solid as usual, with 10 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds. Johnathan Williams had the most points and the highest PIR from Trento, the American center finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds.

With the win, Joventut climbed to first place in the standings in Group A, having the same winning percentage as Partizan Belgrade. Even if they are still not considered championship contenders, Joventut proved so far both in the EuroCup and in the ACB League that they can compete against anyone and with the current format of EuroCup miracles could happen in Badalona. In the next round, Ribas and co. will travel to Germany to play against Hamburg Towers.

Dolomiti Energia Trento on the other hand remains at the bottom of the standings in the group and will host MoraBanc Andorra in the next round. The Italian squad desperately need a win as they are already three wins behind 8th placed Hamburg with just eight games to go.
