Joventut gave no chance to Girona
Yesterday, Joventut Badalona received the visit of another Catalan team in Liga ACB. Basquet Girona was easy to blow from the first half because they couldn’t score almost any shot. At the break, they had only 25 points with 2 of them scored in the last seconds of the 2nd quarter. With such a poor offensive side you cannot put any problem on Joventut who dominated the whole game.
The experience of Ante Tomic who finished with 22 points and a good collective game on both sides of the court was crucial for Joventut. Even with the absences of Vives and Ruzic, two players from the core of the team, Badalona showed a great basketball and in the second part of the encounter, they were very prolific scoring 49 points. Even if Girona won the last quarter by a small margin, the difference between the two teams is big and the visitors never put in danger the final result.
Basquet Girona is an interesting project and Fotis Katzikaris had experience as a head coach, but they need a better roster and playing with more energy and concentration if they want to do something in Liga Endesa. Sometimes they play too individually losing ball possessions and missing a lot of shots. This aspect was punished by the experienced team of Joventut Badalona who could read better the offense and help each other in defense to force the visitors to do some bad shots.
