Markovic and Teodosic combined for more assists than the whole Armani Milan

Yesterday, in the most important derby of the season in Italy, Virtus Bologna wrote another page of history, smashing the disappointing Armani Milan. The visitors had no chance in PalaDozza because Segafredo Virtus Bologna took the lead from the 1st quarter and never look back. A bit tired after the long trip to Moscow, where they faced CSKA in Euroleague, the team from Milan was easy to break by the unleashed Virtus playing in front of their fans.

Guided by the Serbian duo, Stefan Markovic and Milos Teodosic, the host team moved much better the ball finding the right opportunities to shoot open. The 2 guards had together 18 assists, this time Stefan Markovic registering a record of 12 while MilosTeodosic did only 6. The ex-teammates from the National team of Serbia combined for more assists than the whole Milan squad, leading a very organized game on both sides of the court. The Euroleague powerhouse played again without energy, chaotic, with poor executions and finished the encounter having only 13 assists (one more than Stefan Markovic alone) compared with 23 made by Virtus Bologna.

This is the 6th time this season when Bologna’s pair of guards Milos Teodosic and Stefan Markovic combined for more assists than the entire opponent squad. Other 2 times they tied the number of assists made by the rival team, being the true engine of the offensive end for the best team in Italy.

The win was very important and the margin good enough for Virtus Bologna to hope for the 1st place in Legabasket when the playoff will start. They proved a high-quality basketball against the toughest opponent in Italy, the eternal title contender Armani Milan. There are many chances this could be as well the final of the Italian championship, which will definitely delight the fans from the entire continent.
