Neptunas strengthen their roster with local players
The Lithuanian team was a constant presence in Basketball Champions League, participating in all the editions of the continental competition. They were an average team and with the summer transfers, the club will remain in the same position for the next season.
Neptunas parted ways with all their American players: Kyle Weaver, Lorenzo Williams and Jerai Grant and till now they have brought in only 2 replacements: Andre Williamson and Darrin Dorsey. The big changes operated by the team can be seen at the local players’ level where Neptunas got rid of Paulius Dambrauskas, Arūnas Mikalauskas, Laimonas Kisielius and Laurynas Beliauskas. Instead, they have signed a mix of young and experienced players like Žygimantas Janavičius, Tadas Sedekerskis (on loan from Baskonia), Aidas Einikis and Tadas Pazera.
I appreciate this club because they are trying every year to reach as far as they can competing mostly with local players. They are bringing in 2 or maximum 3 foreigners, playing most of the time with national products, many of them 20-22 years old. The Lithuanian squad has no chance to be a title contender but they are growing a lot of young players giving them a lot of minutes on the court.
