PAO with a great chance to win vs. Baskonia

A great game to watch tonight in Athens. Panathinaikos will host Baskonia in a true clash of the Euroleague.

The Greek squad is occupying the penultimate position in the standings, with only one victory in the first six rounds of the competition. At the same time Baskonia is having a good start, being in 5th place in the Euroleague. Even if the standings’ positions are very different I think PAO will do anything to win and they could overturn the Spaniards.

First of all, PAO when they play at home they are a tough nut to break. If you take a look at their home games, they have lost with a minimum margin of 2-3 points against Real Madrid, Monaco and Partizan. They were very close to the win, but the circumstances were not so favourable. This won’t repeat forever. PAO has to win some games at least at home where the crowds of fans are offering tremendous support.

The visiting team had some amazing games this season, but as well they collapsed by 26 points in Lyon, in front of a team that has one of the low-cost rosters in the whole competition. Baskonia is a team that could oscillate a lot and they are much more likely to win at home than away. They are not as good as the current standings show them. The hard part of the competition is starting only now and I don’t see the Basque team in the Euroleague’s playoffs.
