Partizan – true Eurocup title contender
Partizan – true Eurocup title contender
It’s not about the win in Venezia, last evening in the opener of the Eurocup. It’s not about smashing Cedevita Olimpija in Zagreb a couple of days ago in the Final of the Aba League SuperCup. But it’s about the new look of Partizan, a club with one of the biggest tradition in the European basketball, who seems now to come back from the shadows of debt and regain their status in the elite.
The Serbian squad has maybe the largest quality rotation in Eurocup, comparing with no other team. If you will take a look at Virtus Bologna, considered the main favorites of the competition you will see 7 very tough guys, but then, the bench is not so deep. The same thing with other top teams like Unics Kazan, Unicaja Malaga, Lokomotiv Kuban. But this is not the case with Partizan, they have 12 players to rotate, more then is needed because normally to give enough minutes to everybody who steps on the court, the coaches use a 10 players rotation.
Last night in Venezia, against the home team, Partizan won in the end (66-63), after controlling the whole game and in the same time they have rested two important players Rade Zagorac and Novica Velickovic. And was no problem at all, the chemistry was working as well as providing results. Here you can see the job of Andrea Trinchieri who has built solid relationships on the court between the players. It doesn’t matter who is replacing who, all the fellows in the roster are fighting for every ball and pushing each other to a win-win situation. That’s why a can clearly see Partizan as a true competitor for reaching the Eurocup final stages, maybe booking one of the 2 spots for the next Euroleague season, where they belong without a doubt.
