Peristeri – a tough opponent for Gaziantep
Peristeri – a tough opponent for Gaziantep
The 2019-2020 Basketball Champions League season starts today and here we have many good teams and interesting duels. For this season the top favourites are teams like Dinamo Sassari, Hapoel Jerusalem, Brose Bamberg or Tenerife. The first match that will be presented on our site is Gaziantep vs Peristeri, two clubs that are absolutely newcomers in this European competition.
Gaziantep brought some reinforcements during the summer, including Drew Crawford from Cremona, Jamarr Sanders or Stevan Jelovac from Brose. In the first three games of TBL, they won one game against Afyon Belediye 78-71 in the first round but then lost both games against much better opponents Fenerbahce and Tofas. What’s good for them is the fact that the new players integrated very well in the team tactics, but from the bench, they don’t have too much support, because the national players are low level and don’t provide many points.
On the other hand, Peristeri seems to be a top-level team. They added during the summer several Americans players to improve the roster and get some good results in their first European participation since 2004. They won the first 3 games of the season against Iraklis, Rethymno and Panionios by big margins. What’s good for them is the rotation and the bench players. In all three games, there were at least 10 players that played in the game and brought some extra points, rebounds or assists. The team is balanced and there are many players that can decide a game with an outstanding performance.
My prediction for this game is a win for Peristeri. They have a better roster, bigger rotation and high morale after those national wins. Peristeri is a team that can bring some nice surprises during this Champions League season and for sure they will have my attention through the 2019-2020 season.
