Reggio Emilia in search of a win at Trento
Tonight, Dolomiti Energia Trento will host its former coach Maurizio Buscaglia, who took them in the Eurocup semifinals and in Legabasket finals in 2017. It was a historic season for Trento who eliminated then, in the semifinals of the domestic league, the eternal title contender Armani Milan.
Now, Maurizio Buscaglia is coming back as a tough opponent, with his new team Reggio Emilia and definitely his motivation to win especially this game will be huge. Both teams met previously this season and Reggio Emilia lost at home with 76-84. The only difference in the rosters is that recently Trento parted ways with George King and Davide Pascolo who missed the first encounter will play this time.
I think the value of both rosters is more balanced than the odds for this battle, which are presenting Dolomiti Energia Trento as a clear favourite. Reggio Emilia is an ambitious squad who can surprise any team on a good day. They are hungry for victories since they won only 3 games in the last 11 encounters. With discipline on both sides of the court, the visitors have a chance today to overturn the wheel.
On the hand, Energia Trento is not having its best moment. They are trapped in one of the best group of the Eurocup Top16 and their only chance to survive is to try to beat Virtus Bologna next round. This week they were hammered at home by Partizan Belgrade, who stormed past the Italians with 83-58, while last week they have lost at Darussafaka. If they will be kicked by Virtus Bologna next week, they are 99% out of the Eurocup. That’s one of the reasons for Reggio Emilia’s chance for a good result today. The visitors had enough rest and their motivation for this game has to be higher than Trento’s. Definitely, it will be a derby.
