Tough choice: Peristeri or Tenerife to be in the final?
The first semifinal of the BCL Final Four will oppose the Spanoulis squad, Peristeri Athens and Lenovo Tenerife, the team with the most presences at this stage of the European competition. Who will reach higher?
Both teams know each other very well because they shared the same difficult group in the Top 16 of the competition, together with Pinar Karsiyaka and Hapoel Jerusalem. Then Tenerife won the group but got beaten in Athens by the Peristeri with 90-82.
Even if the Spaniards are considered the best team in the encounter, I think that Peristeri Athens has a great chance too. They have lost in Tenerife, they won it home and now they are playing in Belgrade, where the biggest number of fans are expected to be from Greece. Peristeri will play almost at home supported by the crowds which can give them a strategic and psychological advantage on the court this Friday.
On the other side, Lenovo Tenerife – even if their roster is getting older each year – has the advantage of experience and fantastic chemistry because they maintained the same core of the last seasons. With the acquisition of Kyle Guy, they are aiming even for the BCL title.
It will be an interesting game to watch and it proves the high level that the Champions League Final Four has reached year after year. Two great rosters and coaches will fight for the glory. Let the best win it!
