Virtus will smash Bursaspor in Bologna!
Tonight, Virtus Bologna will be crowned as Eurocup winner in front of thousands of fans. The last obstacle for the Italian squad is Frutti Extra Bursaspor, the revelation of the season in the Eurocup. I have to admit that Bursaspor surprise me as well with their basketball, not only by qualifying for the playoffs but later when they eliminated Partizan Belgrade. The next victim was Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana and then in the semifinals, MoraBanc Andorra.
Reaching the final act of the competition is already more than anyone expected from the Turkish club. With a short rotation, having only 5 foreigners and the local superstar Onuralp Bitim, Bursaspor made miracles in the Eurocup beating teams that have a solid roster. Their bench was almost absent in many encounters. I will give you an example of the game in the semifinals when they outscored Andorra. Except for the first 6 players I mentioned, only 2 Turkish guys entered the court and they contributed together with 3 points and 3 units of index rate in 24 minutes.
With this short rotation, you have no chance against the best roster in Eurocup. Virtus Bologna is simply too good for this competition. Last week they won at Valencia Basket, the most experienced team in the Eurocup and they are ready to destroy Bursaspor. Even if the visitors could start well the game, they won’t resist in front of Virtus Bologna. Actually, Bursaspor has no chance at all against the team led by Sergio Scariolo.
