A true derby in Liga ACB: Joventut Badalona – Unicaja Malaga

One of the most exciting games in the Spanish league will take place this Sunday in Pabellon Olimpic de Badalona. The host team, Joventut will face Unicaja Malaga and the battle seems very tough for both sides.

Joventut is playing at home, in front of thousands of od fans, trying to improve their record after a modest season start. They now have 1-3 after the first 4 games, occupying only the 14th spot in Liga Endesa, a thing that has to be changed soon. The team signed the big man Jarrod Jones for a month’s contract and this addition could help a bit in the paint. He made his debut this week in the Eurocup against Bursaspor, scoring 12 points and grabbing 4 rebounds.

The visiting squad is one with great ambitions this season. Unicaja Malaga is coming after a bad year and in the summer break, they have changed almost completely the roster. The club has invested a lot of money in bringing in so many solid players with experience in European competitions. The expectations are big for Unicaja, in the Basketball Champions League, where they will try at least to reach the Final 4, and in Liga ACB, where they are targeting also the semifinals.

It will be definitely, a tough clash between 2 of the most loved teams in Spanish basketball and I think that the battle is more balanced than is reflected by the odds, where Joventut is shown as a big favorite with 1.40.
