U-Banca Transilvania smashed Cedevita as I expected
The best bet of the week, which I announced on my Telegram channel was to take U-Banca Transilvania as a winner vs. Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana in the Eurocup at odd 2.15. At game time, the odds dropped to 1.50
The best argument for my choice was the absence of many players for the visitors. Cedevita came to Romania without Yogi Ferrell, Zoran Dragic, Karlo Matkovic and Jan Kosic. Also, other Slovenian players had some health issues the week before, when Cedevita suspended their ABA League game.
With the roster decimated by the injuries, Cedevita Olimpija had to be an easy victim for almost any team in the competition. On the other side, the host team, U-Banca Transilvania Cluj-Napoca had the entire roster available, with a better rotation than they had last season in the Basketball Champions League. The Romanian squad was in front of their first-ever Eurocup encounter played at home and this motivated them even more.
The hosts are a team with a high potential in offense and this was seen since the beginning of the game. The Romanians took an important lead in the 3rd quarter, reaching a 29-point margin. Even Cedevita fought as hell trying to get back in the books, U-BT Cluj Napoca found the strength to resist. They won with a comfortable margin 94-76 giving no chance to the visitors.
It will be very interesting to see what will happen in the return leg in Ljubljana with the entire roster healthy for the Slovenian side.
