An amazing battle in BasketballCL between Dinamo Sassari and Baxi Manresa

Round 7 of Basketball Champions League will bring us an interesting game that will take place in Italy, between Dinamo Sassari and Manresa, two teams that have the objective to pass this first group stage. After 6 games they are currently placed second and third, so this game might is very important for them. Let’s see how they played in respective leagues.

First, Sassari competed against the top team and their arch-rivals from Italy, Olimpia Milano and lost the game 78-90. They started a little slow the game, so at halftime, they were led by 7 points despite a poor record from distance for Milano who managed to score only 3 three-pointers out of 13 attempts. In the third quarter, Sassari took the lead thanks to their decent percentages from the field while Milano had 4 turnovers. But in the last period, the wheel of fortune turns against them, scoring only 5 buckets and other five from the free-throw line. They were overwhelmed by Milano’s power in the paint, but also their passing skills worked very well with 8 assists in this period, while Sassari had only 9 in the entire game. The main contributors for Sassari were: DeShawn Pierre (21 points and 5 rebounds), Miro Bilan (17 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists) and Curtis Jerrels (13 points).

Manresa, on the other hand, managed to get the win against Murcia, thanks to a perfect fourth-quarter and a last-second three-pointer from Will Magarity. The game was very hard for Manresa because Murcia took the lead in the first minutes of the game and never let the advantage to slip through their fingers until the last shot of the game. Despite a huge game from Murcia’s Emanuel Cate, who finished the game with 27 points and 9 rebounds, with 9-10 from the field, Manresa get a 93-92 win especially thanks to three persons: Ryan Toolson who finished with 22 points and 3 rebounds, Luka Mitrovic with 20 points and 4 rebounds and Dani Perez who had a magic night, finishing with 16 assists!

Here we saw a big team that never gave back and fights until the last second which represents a big strength for Manresa, while Sassari lost the game in the last quarter. With such a determination the Spanish team will put a lot of problems, but it’s interesting to see if those two-weekend scenarios will be the same in this game, or the roles will be reversed.
