Bandirma resisted till the last seconds in front of CSKA at Gloria CUP

Teksut Bandirma was very close to make a huge surprise yesterday at the Gloria Cup, the friendly tournament held in Antalya every September. The Turkish squad played a very tied game against the Euroleague powerhouse CSKA Moscow. The Russians stole the victory in the last seconds of the game, with 87-84 and qualifying for the final of the cup, where they will face Anadolu Efes.

Having only 4 foreigner players in the roster, Banvit showed an extraordinary concentration during the game. They look like a strong team in front of the upcoming season in Basketball Champions League, especially because they have many Turkish role-players that contribute a lot coming from the bench. Emanuel Terry was the leading scorer of this encounter for Bandirma with 17 points, followed by Jaime Smith and Omar Prewitt both with 14 points.

For CSKA, Mike James impressed with 20 points, Will Clyburn had 18 and Darrun Hilliard come up with 12. In spite of having all the foreigners at disposal, CSKA’s game was affected by the absence of the local players who joined the Russian National Team for the FIBA World Cup in China.
