Betting +9.5 handicap on Gran Canaria was a must
A couple of days ago, on my Premium Telegram channel, I strongly recommended betting on Gran Canaria at Ucam Murcia. The highest odd at that moment was on the bookmaker Unibet that offered 3.75 on Gran Canaria, while the handicap was +9.5. From my point of view, both lines had a huge value and I will tell you why:
- The visitors were coming after 7 consecutive losses in Liga ACB. They have a good team, a large roster full of talented players. Their motivation and hungry to win had to be sky-high.
- In the same time, in Eurocup, Gran Canaria has a very good position with 4 games won from 5 and the next encounter will be at Nanterre, a team affected by many missings due to Coronavirus. So Granca could focus totally on this game.
- Another important aspect was that Gran Canaria was now rested, they had an easy game at home against Promitheas, on Wednesday and they had to be fresh against Ucam Murcia. The main problem responsible for the previous losses in Liga ACB was the fatigue of Gran Canaria who had many tough weeks with large trips around Europe. But in the last 10 days, the team had fewer games and no exhausting trip.
The initial odd 3.75 start to drop reaching 2.90 and including 2.80 at the game time. But I had a doubt and I recommended the cash out on victory, keeping only the bet on the handicap +9.5. My fear was related to the tensions between the captain of the team Javier Beiran and the head coach Porfirio Fisac. Beiran was left at home for this encounter because he had some clashed with the coach and when a team has this kind of conflicts he could lose their enthusiasm and appetite to win.
In the end, Gran Canaria dominated Murcia from the first minute of the game. Even if the hosts have a late comeback this was not enough and Gran Canaria not only covered the handicap but as well won the game.
