Iberostar Tenerife will be a brand new team next season

I never saw such a rebuilding process of a squad like it’s happening this summer with the Spanish club, Iberostar Tenerife. It seems that they are changing the roster entirely after the final lost against Virtus Bologna in Basketball Champions League and the playoff missed in Liga ACB.

At the departures chapter, we have almost all the big names of the last season’ core. Colton Iverson and Tim Abromaitis have signed with the Euroleague newcomer Zenit Sankt Petersburg, Javier Beiran is back at Gran Canaria, Nicolas Brussino and Rodrigo San Miguel will play for Zaragoza, Pierre Antoine Gillet with Fuenlabrada, Janari Joesaar and Thaddus McFadden are free agent and Nicholas Richotti will have his jersey number retired by the club. 9 players are gone, so let’s see who’s coming in for Tenerife.

Actually, the Canarian organization has made one of the best acquisition campaigns of the postseason. They added only tough players, most of them with previous Euroleague experience. Big man, Giorgi Shermadini will definitely help them a lot in the paint. Marcelinho Huertas, Darion Atkins, Sasu Salin and Gabriel Lundberg will put a lot of pressure on the opponents on both sides of the court. Last but not least, the best signings are coming from the local players. Pablo Aguilar, Dani Diez and Santi Yusta will replace very good the departed ones, giving a lot of versatility to the game. Once again, Iberostar Tenerife will have one of the largest quality bench coming from multicultural areas, one of the key factors for the Canarian tourism to grow.

The rebuilding is giving big hopes in both competitions where Iberostar Tenerife will continue to play next season. In BasketballCL they are still one of the favorites to lift the trophy and they can have now a better chance to improve in their domestic league.
