You were Italian League MVP and Italian Cup MVP at the beginning of the 2000′ s. How was the Italian league then compared with nowadays?

Average championship level was a little bit higher, our teams were really competitive also in Europe. Last years, except a few times, we struggled too much in European competitions.

You received in 2004 the “Order of Merit of the Italian Republic”. Tell me a bit about the whole context of this award.

It came just because we won the silver medal at the Olympic games and republic president CARLO AZEGLIO CIAMPI decided to honor us with this award… for us and for all the athletes won a medal in Athenas 2004: great emotion, great pleasure, a great honor. SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!!
What do you think about the possibilities of the Italian players to become stronger players now after Coronavirus? It is a good moment to put the focus on homegrown players.
It supposes to be like this and I hope it will happen as well!!!!! also if, right now, some rumors talk about the possibility to change rules in terms of foreigners for next season increasing their number: we will see what is going on next few weeks.
You played for 20 years in the Italian League. What was your the best experience from your basketball career?
My best period was the years I played for Benetton Treviso, the team where I grow up from the junior level: a great organization with great coaches and great teammates!!!!  We really won many trophies with unbelievable satisfactions!!!
What is your main goal for the next years?
Three years ago I retired after playing last season with Pallacanestro Varese, one of the most important Italian historical club… and right after I started as assistant coach!!! Right now I have the same role for Basket Ravenna and my goal for next years keeps going on with this job and earn a chance to coach a team!!!! FINGER CROSSED!
