Joventut found more motivation than FC Barcelona

This victory is something unbelievable but has its explanations. Joventut Badalona, in spite of its smaller budget, has built a deep and fresh roster. They came to Palau Blaugrana to fight Barca with confidence in their own strength. After the first game of the semifinals, it looked like the Azulgrana squad will smash Joventut Badalona finishing the series with a 3-0. This didn’t happen because FC Barcelona relaxed and thought that will be very easy. They played without Cory Higgins in game 2, after he made a great game 1.

On the other side, Joventut Badalona was by far more motivated. It is not a coincidence that Ante Tomic made a great night, leading the youngsters against his ex-team with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Tomic wanted to show once again, especially in this kind of game that he is still playing high-level basketball. Then, all the other Joventut young players were ready to fight till the last minute because they could be targeted for the next season by Real Madrid, Baskonia or Barca.

It was an amazing night for a club that had on the roster 7 guys that are true home-grown players. Unfortunately, Andres Feliz got injured and he could miss the next games which will be an important loss for Joventut Badalona. Let’s see if FC Barcelona will regain hope and Brandon Davies will start to score again (0 points in game 2!!!)
