Malcolm Delaney could join Pesic to win the Euroleague with F.C. Barcelona
How many of you are remembering Malcolm Delaney playing for Bayern Munich under coach Svetislav Pesic a couple of years ago? Now the point guard is in Barcelona, where the Catalan club is trying to reach a long term agreement with him.
Even if the eyes of Malcolm Delaney are drawn to the NBA, which is his first option, the idea of playing for F.C. Barcelona can be as well a good deal for both sides. The Azulgrana squad is needing a very tough player on the guard position, after the injury of Thomas Huertel and Malcolm Delaney seem to be the best option available on the market at the end of summer. Before leaving to the NBA, the American impressed not only with Bayern but even more with Lokomotiv Kuban, leading them to a historical Euroleague playoff series back in 2016. Then, Lokomotiv Kuban eliminated exactly Barca, in their way to the Final 4 and then surprisingly won the 3rd place smashing Baskonia.
Last week the, Barca looked like they won’t sign any guard to replace the injured Huertel, but now the organization changed their minds. After the friendly game lost against MoraBanc Andorra, it seems clear for everybody that signing another strong little man is not an option, in order to aspire to success.
For Malcolm Delaney, the deal with F.C. Barcelona can be very good because the next seasons the Catalans will have a dominant roster in Spain and Europe, with the possibility to win many trophies, including the Euroleague title. Joining F.C. Barcelona would be nice for the American guard who can have again the possibility to work under the command of his former coach Pesic. If the deal will be done, I think nothing can stop BARCA this season, because their roster will be more than complete on every position.
