Overrated and pathetic Serbia demolished by Scola & Co.
The most surprising result at the FIBA World Cup just happened an hour ago. So praised Serbia full with NBA-ers, Euroleague players, Serbian mentality, school, defense and blablabla was destroyed by an old and retired from NBA Luis Scola and a couple of enthusiastic fellows around him.
On one side, there was the best center in the NBA, Nikola Jokic, the sharpshooter Bogdan Bogdanovic, Nemanja Bjelica, Boban Marjanovic and so on fighting with 39 years old legend Luis Scola, helped by Facundo Campazzo, Nicolas Laprovittola, Patricio Garino, Luca Vildoza, Gabriel Deck, Nicolas Brussino and Delia Marcos – all active players in Spanish Liga ACB. Unbelievable! Like the lack of defense of the Serbians. The negligence on guarding the 3 point line was fatal. The Argentinians have finished with 12/27 scoring from the arc in the most important moments of the battle.
On the other hand, Serbia had a low night in the same category with only 8/28. Even from the 2 point shots range, Argentina dominated the game having 60%, while Serbia only 51%. Except for Jokic who finished in a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, the other centers were almost absent for Serbia: Boban Marjanovic, Nikola Milutinov and Miroslav Raduljica combined for negative index rate: -1!!! They played together under 10 minutes because it was obvious they were inefficient on the court!
This game shows everybody exactly the reason why it’s not worthy to bet on national teams overrated, who had small odds and then get destroyed. The big favorite to win the FIBA World CUP was clearly eliminated by the underdog Argentina, who showed to the Serbians a huge basketball lesson! It’s not enough to have an NBA resume if you are no able to defend, run or build the offense, if you underestimate the opponents and forget to guard them, from the first second of the game.
