PAO reaches Final Four after great series against Maccabi
This year we have a crazy battle in the EuroLeague playoff with the most balanced series in the last decade. Pao and Maccabi Tel Aviv offered us a true basketball show during these weeks and finally, the Greeks qualified winning game 5. We saw everything, Maccabi won game 1 at OAKA, then PAO won game 4 away at Maccabi, Sloukas had 0 points in a game, while the same veteran was the MVP of the game 4, etc.
After many struggles, PAO is back to the European glory where they aimed so much, investing a lot of money this season in building a top roster. With Juancho Hernangomez back, Panathinaikos has now better options also in the paint and can compete with any team in Europe. The Final Four format can help them because they are a team that can focus better on a single-game format and surprise any opponent. If PAO will have a great day, I am sure they can beat Monaco or Fenerbahce and reach the EuroLeague Final where things will be a bit more difficult, but not impossible.
Congrats also to Maccabi Tel Aviv, they made a consistent series, having Wade Baldwin in and out and playing home games in Serbia. It was a difficult season for the Israeli squad to be always away from home, without the support of their fans but even so, they have a great journey being so close to reaching the EuroLeague Final Four.
