Promitheas to win at Ifaistos Limnou
This week in Eurocup, Promitheas showed an unbelievable strength, smashing Virtus Bologna, the favourite to win the European competition. Even more impressive was the fact that the Greek side made this huge result, in the absence of 2 important American players, the guard Robert Lowery, who left the team signing with Tsmoki-Minsk and the center Octavius Ellis, injured.
Having only 4 foreigners and just an 8 players rotation, Promitheas Patras did the miracle against Virtus Bologna, a squad full with talented players and a much larger bench. Now they have transferred a new point guard, Gerald Robinson, former AS Monaco, but even if he will enter this game against Ifaistos Limnou, I don’t expect him to play much time and to do something in his first encounter.
Even with a short rotation, I trust Promitheas to win this game away because they have more quality players than the opponents. The 4 Greeks of the Eurocup participant (Bogris, Agravanis, Katselakis and Katsivelis) are very experienced players who cannot be compared with Ifaistos Limnou’s bench fellows.
The only advantage for Ifaistos seems to be playing in their home-court, where they have good results. A couple of weeks ago they have hammered there AEK Athens, but I don’t think they have the power to do so with all the big teams in Greece. Ifaistos started very well the season, being at 3-1 at the moment and you can say that is a huge performance, but Promitheas is a very solid team, tough to be beaten by average squads.
The only doubt I have for the victory is not related with their missing players but with Promitheas’ main focus for the Eurocup, where they will face next round away MoraBanc Andorra and I hope they won’t sacrifice this Greek league game in order to be more rested for that battle.
