Olimpia Milano finally will win a game in Serie A at Virtus Roma
Today in Round 6 of Seria A, Virtus Roma will face Olimpia Milano, two teams that have a good start of the season. While for Roma this game represents a big challenge and also a chance to prove themselves that are a good team, for Milano this game is the perfect chance to continue to establish some game-relations and also to help Shelvin Mack and Nemanja Nedovic reintegrate in the team because both are fully recovered for this game.
Virtus Roma had a very good start of the season since their return to the top tier of Italian Basketball. After two defeats in the first two games, now they have a run of three wins against Cremona, Pistoia and Fortitudo Bologna. In the last game against Fortitudo, they won 79-65, despite their 18% shooting from the 3-point line. They won the rebounds battle 48-31 and also took advantage of Fortitudo’s 9 turnovers. Davon Jefferson was the MVP of the game with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Other notable performers were: Amar Alibegovic (17 points and 9 rebounds), Jerome Dyson (14 points and 5 assists) and William Buford (12 points and 8 rebounds).
Milano had some problems with the chemistry at the start of the season, but now everything seems to settle down, with their huge Euroleague victory against Fenerbahce 87-74. They dominate the game from start to finish and finish with 50% shots made from the field, including a 47% from the distance. The way they moved the ball was very good and always looked for the open man, as they finish the game with 20 assists. The main scorer was Sergio Rodriguez (22 points and 5 assists). Alongside him, Arturas Gudaitis (17 points and 5 rebounds) and Amedeo Della Valle (15 points) had a very good game too. The biggest news for Milano’s fans is that Nedovic and Mack are back in action. However, as coach Messina stated, they will play restricted minutes on the court. Gudaitis (rest) and Jeff Brooks (injury) will not play in this game.
This game will be very interesting, with Roma aiming to battle for every point against this big club, but Milano will win this contest. They have a more powerful squad and also, with the return of Nedovic and Mack, the rotation will be even bigger and stronger. Virtus have 6-7 good players, but their biggest problem is the rotation because the bench can provide too much help in a clash like this. Easy win for Milano.
