Surprisingly, San Pablo Burgos was humiliated at home by Valencia Basket
After an astonishing win in BasketballCL, where they destroyed the visitors Anwill Wloclawek with 110-78, San Pablo Burgos had a totally different game against Valencia Basket. They looked like a junior team, being hammered at home by the Taronja squad with more than 30 points margin (62-93).
Burgos’ game was unrecognizable after the first quarter won by them with 16-15. They committed a lot of turnovers (19) and their ability to shoot was very poor. Their main weapon, Thaddus McFadden finished the game scoreless, having -5 index rate. The difference at this chapter of efficiency was very huge between these 2 teams: Valencia had 114 compared with only 47 made by Burgos.
The result of this encounter is even more hilarious if we take into considerations the circumstances of the game. San Pablo played at home as well in BasketballCL and then, yesterday in Liga ACB, having 3 days to rest, while the visitors Valencia Basket are coming from Tel Aviv where they have faced Maccabi in the Euroleague.
Valencia travelled a lot to Israel and then, back to Spain and had only one day off between the games and, of course, they have spent that day on the road. That’s why the final score is unbelievable. Is this the same Valencia that was smashed at home the round before by Unicaja Malaga? Amazing recover of the Taronja team.
Sincerely, we all expected a totally different game from San Pablo Burgos, who seemed to lost their energy and motivation in this encounter. They have played one of the nightmarish basketball ever and their performance was so ridiculous that can be the object of study in the basketball schools, at the chapter “Don’t ever do this on a basketball court!”. And San Pablo Burgos has an experienced roster, with a lot of possibilities and as well a large rotation. That’s why I don’t see any excuses for this crappy lack of concentration.
