Real Madrid dominates Barcelona and wins the Spanish Supercup
Sunday (09.22), Real Madrid and FC Barcelona met in the first `El Clasico` of the season. The game was played in WiZink Center and it mattered for the Spanish Supercup Final.
After a slow start, Pablo Laso’s players put a show on the court and really dominated their opponents. They finished the 1st quarter with just a one-point advantage but then outscored Barcelona 27-13 in the 2nd quarter.
After the break, the guests showed more resilience and active hands and managed to cut the deficit. However, Real Madrid stayed in front and won the game by 10 points. The final score was 89-79 and Los Blancos won their second consecutive Supercup.
Facundo Campazzo was named the MVP of the Supercup as he finished with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Rudy Fernandez added 10 points, 4 rebounds, while Jordan Mickey had another great game: 10 points, 7 rebounds.
On the other side, Brandon Davies, one of Barcelona’s new additions, finished with 23 points, 4 rebounds. He was followed by Nikola Mirotic (14 points, 6 rebounds).
In this game, Real Madrid showed that it continues to be a great force in Europe, and it would be interesting to see if they can get Luis Scola. However, Barcelona played without Thomas Heurtel, Pau Ribas, and Alex Abrines, so next time it should be a different story.
