Minnesota Timberwolves

Minnesota Timberwolves

The Timberwolves history don’t go too far back in history, as they came into the league in the 1989-90 season. They don’t really have any Hall of Famers who played there yet, but despite of that, Kevin Garnett, a perennial power forward and a champion later in his career, played a few years in Minnesota after being drafted with the number five overall pick. Garnett also won an MVP award while being there and he played a Western Conference Finals once, against the Lakers, losing it in 6 matches. Other than that, they didn’t make it past the first round of the playoffs ever. Stephon Marbury was another good player who played alongside Garnett, but other than that, they were kind of empty handed as an organization. When Garnett chose to join the Celtics in 2007, Minnesota Timberwolves went through a rebuilding process for over a decade. They thought that the process ended when they got Kevin Love in 2008, but even if he was playing at an All Star level for three seasons, they didn’t even get to the playoffs… not once during the Love era, so he left. The organization was in a desperate search of players to build around, so, through draft, they got Andrew Wiggins, a number 1 pick, in a trade that involved Kevin Love. After a few years, Minnesota got another number 1 draft pick, so they selected Karl Anthony Towns. Despite of having two number one picks, they didn’t seem to do very much, even if they made the playoffs in the 2017-18 season, ending a thirteen year drought, the Wolves lost in the first round in five matches and the following season they ended on the 11th place. Those two players, along with a good supporting cast, definitely have the potential to lead a franchise to the playoffs, but apparently the managers need to be patient one more time.
