Teams to watch in Eurocup: the newcomer U-Banca Transilvania

Last season they made a good figure in the Basketball Champions League even if nobody gave them credit at the beginning of the competition. The Romanian team was very close to the Final 4 that took place in Bilbao, but their spot was taken by Ludwigsburg, another revelation of that season. With a larger rotation, U-Banca Transilvania could easily reach the BCL Final 4.
In the upcoming season, the Romanians will compete in Eurocup for their first time and again the bookmakers see them as the teams with fewer chances to the final stages. But I think that U-Banca Transilvania can have a great season in Eurocup because they:
- have a better rotation by bringing in the Romanian national team center, Emanuel Cate that has ACB experience
- they have kept some good foreigners such as Richard, Stipanovic and Guzman and signed amazing guys like Jordan Taylor, Victor Sanders and Leonardo Meindl
- the Eurocup level is very tied and you don’t have a clear favourite to win the trophy. All the teams involved have almost the same level that’s why the motivation of the players can make a difference. And the motivation will not miss for the Romanian squad since 10 000 fans will fill the BT Arena from Cluj-Napoca, the heart of Transylvania every home game.
- the Eurocup is not as strong as it was a couple of years ago before FIBA created the Basketball Champions League.
If they will add one more center, U-Banca Transilvania can aim to reach the highest stages of the Eurocup
