The surprising results of the DAY 1 at FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup
It is an incredible atmosphere here in Debrecen, Hungary, where FIBA decided to host the 3×3 Europe Cup this year. The arena is full of fans who came to support their team. Much more people are watching the games in Debrecen than this year in June, in Amsterdam, where FIBA hosted the 3×3 World CUP. It’s a good sign for this sportive discipline that is catching the appreciation of the basketball lovers every day! Streetball means concentration, effort, show and fun.
In the first day of the tournament, there were already 2 huge surprises. In the evening session, Serbia took revenge on Poland squad, who stole them the bronze medals recently at 3×3 World Cup and effectively destroyed them with 21-10. The Serbian squad played the most intelligent and wild basketball of the Day 1. They were so motivated from the beginning that they didn’t give any chance to the Poles.
The Serbian team, having the same core (Dusan Bulut, Dejan Majstorovic and Marko Savic) has added for this tournament another important player, the center Danilo Mijatovic, with a lot of experience in different basketball leagues in Europe. The squad looks very strong in this formula, having one of the best offensive and defensive arsenal at FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup.
The second surprise of the day one was even better. The Hungarian Women team smashed the favorites from France. After they so disputed games against Poland, won with 17-16 by Hungarian girls, nobody credits them with a chance in front of France and at the game time, both teams were already qualified for the next stage. But Hungary in front of hundreds of crazy local fans who cheered the entire game surprised the opponents with a spectacular desire to win the battle.
Now let’s see what astonishing results DAY 2 of FIBA 3×3 Europe will bring to us.
