Virtus Bologna will build a better roster for the next season
It will be a busy summer for Virtus Bologna on the transfer market. After winning the Champions League, Virtus Bologna’s chairman took the decision to defend this title and also aim to win the Seria A title, a victory wanted by all Virtus fans. Everybody expects Virtus to release almost all the foreign players, Dejan Kravic has big chances to stay for one more year in Bologna.
The first decision regarding the transfers is to finish Kelvin Martin’s contract after a disappointing season. He suffered a series of injuries and was limited to only 19 games in Seria A, finishing with 6.6 points. The first name on Virtus Bologna’s list is the 2016-2017 Euroleague Champion, Milos Teodosic. Currently, he is a free agent after being released by the Los Angeles Clippers. However, Teodosic announced that he is fully focused on the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China. Everything depends on Milos’s decision for Virtus Bologna new signings.
If Teodosic declines, there are other names on Virtus’s list. Stefan Jovic from Bayern and Stefan Markovic from Khimki Moscow are two big players that can help Virtus with their Euroleague experience. From the Seria A, Aleksa Avramovic is at the top of the list, after having a huge season for Varese with 17.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists. Another name mentioned and which seems a perfect Kelvin Martin replacement is Drew Crawford from Cremona. He had a sensational season, helping Cremona to finish in second place and finishing with 17.9 points and 4.3 rebounds. Those stats can catch some attention from different Euroleague teams.
On Virtus Bologna’s list are also some Italian players. On top are Awudu Abass from Brescia and Paul Biligha from Venezia.
This summer will be very busy for Virtus like I said before. On their list, there are many players with nice numbers in the last season and they will fight in order to bring good players and complete their roster ahead of next season. The 2019-2020 season is a season to watch Virtus Bologna if they will successfully defend the Champions League title and fight for Seria A title, as their chairman stated.
