+30.5 should be a good handicap for Virtus Roma vs. Brindisi
Last round of the Italian Supercup, Virtus Roma was destroyed at Dinamo Sassari with 114-71 and as a consequence, the majority of the bettors is thinking that Brindisi will win with a huge margin. But the things could be different because:
- in their previous game at Sassari, Virtus Roma decided to travel without the foreigners and to rest the big man Riccardo Cervi. They included in the roster for that encounter many youngsters, some of them between 17-20 years old.
- Now things should be different. The rested foreigners, Gerald Robinson and Christopher Evans could be used. Anthony Bean arrived yesterday morning to Roma and probably he won’t enter this game, but there are great chances for Riccardo Cervi to play, which will change a bit the perspectives of the encounter. Imagine Robinson, Evans, Cervi instead of 3 juniors that played against Sassari and the game will be totally different.
- Another major argument: last game Virtus played away, they didn’t force anything because it was impossible to win anyway, but now they will play at home and nobody wants to be massacred in their homecourt by more than 30 points.
- Brindisi didn’t convince me in their last game lost at home in front of Pesaro. They have a good roster but the chemistry is needed as well. Brindisi is – at the moment – much better than Virtus Roma (which is integrating now, step by step, their foreigners), there is no doubt about, but I am sure that the hosts will try to make a better game than they have made at Sassari.
- The visitors don’t need to win with 31 points margin. Instead of this, Brindisi should slow down the engine, giving more minutes to the Italian players and resting the important players for the important game at Sassari they have in 2 days from now. That game needs a special focus from Brindisi, beating today at Roma with 31 points margin doesn’t mean anything.
