9 teams that have no chance to win the Euroleague next season
Today, I will name and analyze shortly all the teams that have no chance to win the Euroleague next season and I am pretty sure they won’t even be in the Final4. Some of them will have maybe a chance to reach the playoffs, but the majority of them will be too weak also for this goal. The Euroleague has 18 spots and only 8 can qualify, but we have already 9 strong teams, that’s why the next clubs are in my opinion outsiders.
Crvena Zvezda – the budget and the roster will be again average for the level of the competition. The Serbian club will play with the heart as always and they will steal some important wins at home, but nothing more.
Asvel Lyon – is in the same situation, without enough money to make noise in the Euroleague.
Bayern Munich and Alba Berlin – even the German economy is not so affected by the crisis, these 2 teams won’t have enough resources to invest in order to be top teams.
Zalgiris Kaunas – Sarunas Jasikevicius left the club at the right moment because if Zalgiris budget was low not it will be lowered even more. Important players left or leaving the Lithuanian club.
Baskonia – after winning the Spanish league against a disappointing Barca, Baskonia have parted ways with many important players (Shengelia, Granger, Garino, Eric and so on). The economic crisis will force them to sign average players.
Fenerbahce – the club is in a total conversion from Obradovic’s era to a new situation when key players have left replaced by some decent ones, but not able to do miracles.
Olympiacos and Panathinaikos – Greek basketball is affected in the last years by the lack of money. The past performances as winning the Euroleague won’t repeat soon because the economic crisis is deepening each season. Both teams are bringing in cheap Americans while the Greek players’ level is not the same as 10 years ago.
