Who are the oldest active players in the Euroleague?
Last year Luis Scola was the best scorer between the oldest players of the Euroleague with 9.21 points per game. In April he was 40 years old and the next season he will play for the Italian side, Varese. But there are other fellows that will continue to play, trying to write history in spite of their ages. Let’s see the most important of them and what was their performance last season.
Amar’e Stoudemire – the ex-NBA star who came to Europe to end his career will be this November 38 years old. In 6 games played last season with Maccabi Tel Aviv, he made a total of only 8 points and 5 rebounds, being far from his formerly performances. Maccabi Tel Aviv is playing now the Final Tournament in Israel, the only league in Europe that is still going and we don’t know if Amar’e will remain with the team in the future.
Felipe Reyes – the veteran of Real Madrid renewed his contract with the Merengues for the next season. In March this year, he was already 40 years old. In 7 games played in the Euroleague last season, he scored 24 points, grabbing 11 rebounds.
Sergey Monia – the captain of Khimki is 37 years old since April. In 17 games played he had 32 points and 32 rebounds last season in the Euroleague.
Paulius Jankunas – the most emblematic player of Zalgiris in the last decade, was 36 years old in April. He contributed with 80 points, 83 rebounds and 21 assists in 27 games.
Ali Muhhamed – another born April 37 years old, the American naturalized in Turkey appeared in 22 games for Fenerbahce with good numbers: 120 points, 28 rebounds, 29 assists and 10 steals
Jaycee Carroll – the best 3 point shooter in Europe at 37 years old, scored 166 points with 26 rebounds and 11 assists for Real Madrid in 22 games.
Fernando San Emeterio – the Spaniard of Valencia Basket will be 37 years old in 1 of January 2021. Last season he made 175 points, 43 rebounds and 39 assists in 24 games played.
Vassilis Spanoulis will be next month 38 years old but still powerful. Last season he scored 248 points and dished 102 assists in 22 games for Olympiacos. He made as well a record being the only player at 37 years old that scored at least 30 points in the history of the Euroleague.
