If Milos Teodosic will choose Eurocup it will be a mistake
In a previous article, a couple of months ago I wrote that Milos Teodosic has to come back to Euroleague. And here is what I was saying:
“But there is another huge reason for the Teodosic comeback to Europe: he has the best chances to become in 3 years by now the Euroleague KING scorer, dethroning Juan Carlos Navarro, who has 4152 points. At 30 years old, when he left Euroleague for the NBA, Milos Teodosic was no.3 on the all-time scoring list of the biggest European competition with 2807 point. And with the new format of the Euroleague and the expansion planned for the next years, which will offer much more games, it will be much easier for him!
Now, in his absence, veterans Felipe Reyes from Real Madrid and Paulius JAnkunas from Zalgiris Kaunas overcame him in the TOP5 all-time! But Teodosic is still young, and all the other players in front of him are retired like Navarro or will retire soon: Spanoulis, Reyes and Jankunas.
I think is worth more to be the Euroleague all-time scorer than a bench player in the NBA!”
Recently he received offers from many Euroleague powerhouses like Olympiacos, where he played in the past, Anadolu Efes and Maccabi Tel Aviv. On the other side, Virtus Bologna came with a tempting offer with can make real the reunion between the Serbian guard and his beloved coach from the national team, Sasha Djordjevic. Both of them will work again in China at the Fiba World Cup, trying to bring a medal for Serbia.
The only problem is that Virtus Bologna will play next season in the Eurocup and if Milos will choose to play there, he will miss another Euroleague season. I think this will be a mistake because choosing Eurocup will decrease Milos’ chances to make history in Euroleague, where could finish his career as the King scorer, the best in assists all-time, in 3 pointers made and so on.
Milos is a high-level player, why should he choose anything less than the main European competition? He has to prove again his impressive skills at the highest level, in Euroleague, not playing in Eurocup, where you have 4 teams fighting for the title and then a lot of average teams that can be smashed very easy. Even winning the 2nd competition in Europe it means nothing for such a great talent like Teodosic. His destiny is in the Euroleague and this is the most crucial moment in his career. He is not young anymore but he has enough years to play and to try to reach better personal numbers, remaining in the Euroleague history! He cannot accept less than top basketball level in Europe.
