Klay Thompson’s Big Night Boosts the Warriors
It was the first time since the NBA Finals that the Warriors met again with the team they beat to win their fourth championship and cement their legacy even more. Only this time things looked a little different before the game, as the Celtics were coming in red hot, having won 8 of their last 10 matchups. The Warriors, on the other hand, were struggling to find their rhythm since the start of the season. It is true that, even with all this, they have a much better record at home (currently 12-2) than on road (2-11), so it seems that they are still hard to beat on their home floor. Once they figure out what doesn’t work when they hit the road, the Warriors will be like their old selves yet again.
Even though Golden State didn’t have a lot of reasons to be satisfied for this rusty start of the season, last night gave them one to believe again – Klay Thompson looked like old Klay, shooting the lights out, having 24 points at the HALF. All that on 58.8% FG%, so not only the scoring is impressive, but the efficiency on that, too. He said earlier in this season that a big shooting night will come soon, and he didn’t fail to raise to his comments, giving all the Warriors fans hope that even after all those ugly injuries, Klay Thompson can still be whom all know that Klay Thompson is. Steph Curry’s post-game interview response was also showing that they are still over the top confident about him, saying that “the avalanche can come at any time”. We will have to wait and see how Klay will be performing in the next ten games; if he continues with this rhythm, scoring at least 20 points per night, then it will be safe to say that the Warriors are back to contending.
On the other hand, Jayson Tatum was not in his zone against the Warriors, and it seems that he doesn’t feel well when he comes to play at the Chase Center. He had a poor shooting night, scoring only 6 for 21 from the field, for a -13 +/- diff. Jaylen Brown tried to take his team on his back, even in the 4th quarter when the Celtics attempted to make a run by cutting the deficit from 17 to only 8 points, with 6:37 left to play. It just wasn’t enough, as Brown was the only one who could make an impact for Boston this time.
