Levallois and Asvel Lyon to clash in the Leaders Cup!

Today, The Leaders Cup 2023 returns from February 17 to 19 and will take place at the Arena Saint-Étienne Métropole. In one of the quarter-finals, the revelation of this season Boulogne-Levallois will meet the team that disappointed a lot, both domestically and in the Euroleague, LDLC ASVEL in a knockout match.

Vincent Collet’s men have concentrated their efforts this season towards the domestic championship, where they are in second place with 16-6, the 4th team in points scored (88.3), the first in rebounds (35.1), the 11th in assists (18.1) and the 12th in points allowed (84.6). The team relies a lot on the determination of the youngster Victor Wembanyama (22.2p, 9.5r, 2.3a) leader in points and rebounds and the experience of Vincent Collet, multiple winners of the Leaders Cup. The last match was a defeat in the cup by over 30 points with the other Euroleague team, Monaco 107-76.

LDLC ASVEL has a disastrous season for a triple French champion, the penultimate in the Euroleague and 7th in the domestic championship (the 7th team in points scored (85.8), the 12th in rebounds (30.1), the 16th in assists (16.7) and the first in points allowed (78.4)). Finalist of the last edition in 2020 against Dijon, LDLC ASVEL has experienced players in the team who can overcome the bad period and win the first trophy of the season. With the arrival of Dee Bost (15.7p), Nando de Colo and co have another offensive weapon. In the last match, they managed to qualify for the quarterfinals of the cup after a victory against Roanne, 89-88.

The only meeting this season between them resulted in the victory of Boulogne-Levallois 84-83 on January 9. In that match, Tremont Waters shone for Boulogne with 28 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists. Considering that, unlike the match in January, Boulogne lost Waters and ASVEL brought De Bost, Lyon seems to be the favourite for this match.
