Serbia and France back to back champions at FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup

Yesterday, in Debrecen the champions proved their level. Both Serbia’s men and France’s women defended their title and became champions once again. The atmosphere was amazing and the Finals more tied than expected.

Serbia looked by far the main favorite of the men’s finals after Latvia and Poland (the 2 teams that have beaten them at the FIBA 3×3 World Cup this June in Amsterdam) were eliminated from the competition. It seemed to be an easy final and Serbia managed to take a quick important lead, but the French team bounced back and tied the game. In those difficult moments of the encounter, emerged the one and only Dejan Majstorovic who made 2 important shots from the arc almost at the buzzer. Without these 2 huge baskets made by the MVP, I am sure that France could win because they played very well, proving great talent and showing us why they were in the Finals. In the end, the cold blood and the experience of the Serbians, 4 times World Champions of 3×3, gave them the so deserved crown.

The Women Finals looked also easy to win for France at the beginning but Spain came back strong and tied the game, having also the chance of the last shot in the regular time. Entering the overtime, the girls from France were more motivated and eventually won the battle and the gold medal. Ana Maria Filip received the MVP Awards, after making an impressive tournament again.

Here is the top 4 of the tournament by countries:
