Brooklyn Nets

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets were based in New Jersey before 2012, when they took the decision to move to New York, in Brooklyn. Jason Kidd is the main Hall of Famer of the club, as he was leading the Nets in the early 2000s to the playoffs and two NBA Finals. Kenyon Martin was the other guy that helped Kidd in that run, but, in spite of their huge talent, the Lakers and the Spurs proved to be a little bit too much for them in the Finals, as they got swept by LA in the first one and then lost in six games to San Antonio in back-to-back Finals run. The 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons marked their best in franchise history, because after that, they did manage to make the playoffs in the following years, but never got past the second round anymore. Julius Erving and Bernard King also played for the Nets in the 70s, but they didn’t manage to do a lot of noise in the playoffs while being there. After quite a long playoff draught, they got in the post season right in the first season played in the Barclays Arena in Brooklyn, but the cost of that was too high, as the manager made one of the worst decisions in NBA history by trading three first-round picks and a bunch of role players to the Celtics for Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry, who were all way past their prime. They made the playoffs in three straight seasons, but made only once the second round, and after all that, the three of them left the team, and so, they gave up three top 5 picks from the draft. In the present they transformed into a pretty decent team, with a good coach, so if they make some well-thought trades, they can be a playoff team in the future seasons.
