Umana Venezia with the first chance vs. Reggio Emilia
A couple of days ago we took Umana Venezia -2.5 vs Reggio Emilia and the odd dropped a bit since then. There are a couple of reasons for Venezia’s win today:
- They just finished the Eurocup campaign and they are out from that competition, so it means that all their focus have to be on the domestic league. The first goal now for Venezia is to assure their qualification to the Italian Cup and this is the last game in order to do this.
- Venezia had now 7-6 and with a win today they will be definitely in the Italian Cup, with a loss the situation complicates a lot.
- The good news is that Venezia has all their players available, except Valerio Mazzola long-term injured. They have signed Luca Campograne and the roster is complete, with Michael Bramos as well back from injury.
- On the other side, Reggio Emilia has lost Justin Johnson and their rotation is not so deep. They have only 4 foreigners and Filippo Baldi Rossi as an experienced local player. Tough to win with a short roster in Venezia.
Recently Reggio Emilia have signed Dominique Sutton and they showed their interest in Petteri Koponen. Sutton won’t play today but the fact the Reggio is active on the market shows us that the squad need some additions to working properly. These 2 players will reinforce Reggio Emilia for their FIBA Europe Cup campaign which will start soon.
