Who had a perfect week in the EuroLeague?
The double-round weeks in EuroLeague are the most fascinating and the most challenging ones. Everything can turn around if you lose or win both games. Let’s which teams performed perfectly this week, some of them winning surprisingly in both encounters.
We start with the most predictable one: FC Barcelona. The Catalans had an easy win, dominating the entire game at Monaco and then they struggled a bit in the last quarter with Panathinaikos, for the second expected victory of the week.
Then, we have Virtus Bologna with two games at home against Alba Berlin and Maccabi Tel Aviv. The first encounter was easier, while in the second one Maccabi was very close to stealing the win. Virtus found amazing inspiration in the last minutes when they had a 13-0 run and seal the win.
The underdog Asvel Lyon had the first victory at home against Partizan. What happened in the second game is unbelievable: Asvel came from 21 points deficit in the second half and eventually beat Olympiacos. This result showed us once again how tied the level is in the EuroLeague, where a low-cost team can beat a title contender like the Greek club.
Last but not least and maybe the most impressive team on our list is Baskonia who won both games away!!! The Basque team smashed first the reigning champions, Anadolu Efes in Istanbul and then, 2 days later, they dominated Fenerbahce. Baskonia is one of the most interesting teams this season and nobody would believe they will be able to make such a good first part of the season.
