The bet of the week: Armani Milano finally won a game!
Since the beginning of the week, I had been clear that Olimpia Milano could steal the win in Belgrade. I didn’t t trust them to win at home against Maccabi Tel Aviv, but I recommended instead on my Telegram channel to take them as a winner at odd 2.80 against Red Star Belgrade.
The reasons for my bet were:
- The odd was very good if you take into consideration the circumstances: Milano was a team that didn’t win a game since October, while Red Star Belgrade won six in a row since Dusko Ivanovic took the helm. How long could continue this situation? In spite of their injuries, Olimpia Milano has a good roster, an experienced coach and a big hungry for victories. On the other, side the host team has made a huge performance during the last rounds of the EuroLeague, but this winning series cannot last forever. Red Star is a hard-working team, but not a EuroLeague powerhouse.
- Hassan Martin was out against Olimpia Milano. Instead of him, Red Star Belgrade had put in the lineup Miroslav Raduljica, but the big man was at his first official game and I was sure that he won’t do miracles on the court in this encounter. He needs time to accommodate himself again with the basketball, the court, the coach and the teammates. Actually, Hassan Martin’s missing was an important loss for this game, while the presence of Raduljica didn’t affect the Italian team.
Olimpia Milano had an excellent start as I expected and in the end, with a bit of chance they stole the win in one of the most difficult arenas in the world: Aleksandar Nikolic Hall
